ISO 14001 -standardin kehitys • ISO 14001:1996 • Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) -periaate • ISO 14001:2004 • ”tarkennukset” • ISO 14001:201X • ISOn hallintajärjestelmästandardien (laatu, ympäristö jne.) yhteinen rakenne, terminologia ja yhteiset tekstit • ”Futurechallenges for EMS” -teemat, joita mm.: • johdon vastuun korostaminen; linkitys strategiaan • ympäristöasiat osana kestävää kehitystä; yhteys standardiin ISO 26000 • elinkaariajattelu ja arvoketjunäkökulma • ympäristösuorituskyvyn parantaminen; indikaattorit • sidosryhmien kuuleminen; ulkoinen viestintä

ISO 14001:n uudistamisprosessi • Uudistaminen aloitettu alkuvuonna 2012 • Standardin laadinta etenee projektina vaiheittain • pidetty jo kolme ISOn työryhmäkokousta • ensimmäinen äänestysvaihe keväällä 2013 • standardin valmistumistavoite alkuvuosi 2015 • Linkitys opastavan standardin ISO 14004 uudistamiseen • Suomalaisten osallistumista koordinoi SFS:n tekninen komitea TK 113 Ympäristöasioiden hallinta
