DEPARTMENT of ARCHITECTURE INTERNATIONAL BURCH UNIVERSITY ARC 257 STEEL STRUCTURES 2012-2013SpringTerm
Class Schedule: Monday: 09:00-10:45 (Practical Session) Tuesday: 09:00-10:45 (Lectures) • Office Hour:Open Door Policy
Course Objectives • This course aims to introduce the students to aplication of steel as structural material for structures and behaviour of steel structures. • Students will be introduced with design process, from load analysis to providing cross-section for each structural element. • Understanding different types of steel structural element, the way of transfering the loads, connection between same and different cross-section types and elements. • Effects of fire and corrosion on steel elements. • Understanding composite reinforced concrete and steel structural element and its behaviour.
