AEIS FAQ • How did we do? In grades 3-9, we only have a handful of students that did not meet standard on TAKS. We had very good improvement on the number of students who mastered the TEKS as demonstrated through commended performance on TAKS.
AEIS FAQ • What contributed to the gains? Our teachers have adopted the best practices of: • Teaching to the specifics in our state standards, the TEKS; • Planning collaboratively to share best ideas; • Benchmark testing about every 9 weeks to determine students’ mastery levels; and • Providing interventions for students to improve his/her performance.
Continued Challenges for Student Achievement • Support teachers to deliver the curriculum at the depth and complexity required • Expansion of secondary program will add performance indicators • Performance in math, writing, and science (mastery) • Science in Grade 8 will be part of accountability rating in 2008
