Accomplishments • Was involved in establishing formal liaison procedures at FPL in 1980. • Helped conduct numerous FPL/FDOT Coordination Workshop. • Helped establish the Cost Avoidance Program. • Is a firm believer in resolving problems before they become a major issue. • Looks at innovative way to resolve problems. • Usually works behind the scene, instead of in the Spotlight. • Never forgot the value of “Face to Face” communication to resolve conflict or advance issues. • Never had a conflict he couldn’t resolve. • Was the last of the original FPL Relocation Coordinators. • He learn one lesson: “Never Tip Toll Attendees”
FUCC Involvement • Started attending the FUCC in the early 1980’s. • Was instrumental in the establishment of the FUCC Interest Groups meeting, FUCC Hospitality Room and the Annual Awards Banquet. • Chaired the following subcommittees: • Power Interest Group for a 2 year term. • Conference Planning Committee. • Attended and promoted the creation of statewide utility coordination in other states. • Attended all District/local coordination committee meetings in FPL’s Service territory.

FUCC Involvement • Is one of the original members of the “FUCC Village People” • Song “La Bamba” Live at various banquet dinners. • Key Master for the Treasure Chest • Found the “One Armed Man” in Georgia • Was the only Cuban to enter a Red Neck Bar in the hills of Georgia and lived to tell about it.
National Committees International Right-of-way Association • Worked with the IRWA Liaison Committee. • Worked on revisions to the 23 CFR “Utility Accommodations & Reimbursement” • Served on various National subcommittees involving issues with Federal Agencies, COE, BLM, FAA. • Worked on establishing Joint Permitting Processes with COE. • Educated the Federal agencies nationally on Utility Transmission Construction Criteria.
National Committees • Transportation Research Board • Serves on the TRB Utilities Committee. • Helped develop research statements for the Clear Zone policies and Breakaway Poles. • Made various presentations at the Annual TRB meetings on utilities. • National Highway Utilities Conference • Serves on the National Planning Committee since its establishment. • Been involved in various presentations /workshops on Highway/Utility Issues.
