Responsible for Judging, Prize Allocation, Database and System Development. Regional SRC Chair. Dalva Ines de Souza (MOSTRATEC – Fundação Liberato Salzano, Rio Grande do Sul, Novo Hamburgo) • BSc. in Chemistry, MSc in Environment Engineering (focus cleaner production) • Program Coordinator of research projects to Science Teachers in Brazil, close to Febrace, Mostratec and Intel; Chemistry Teacher . High Level Long Term Goals • Increase governmental and private funding to support science fairs (MCT/MEC, State, City, etc.) • Increase Technologies in Teachers' Training Program • Promote a Network of Brazilian Science Fairs
High Level Short Term Goals Continue Teachers Training Course Map and publish Brazil’s science fairs list Report History of Intel Supported Teachers' Training Courses Improve Teachers' Training Course with Technology Install and configure Webtool for Teacher Distance Training Program Raise funds for Teachers' Training Courses (INTEL, Government and others) Evaluate Teachers' Training Program Impact Recognize Teachers' Effort Organize ISEF finalist workshop Organize Veterans Panel Organize Examples of materials Recognize School Research Support Continue motivating schools to participate in Science Fairs Motivate Schools to Work with Research Projects 4
Objectives - Fairs • 30% increase funds for fairs and teachers’ training • Network of Brazilian Science Fairs
Objectives - Teachers • >= 12 teachers’ training courses (3 modules) per year • >= 600 teachers directly trained • Virtual environment use in training courses • 70% teachers participate in 3 modules • 30% teachers: • trained other teachers or students, • mentored projects, • mentored project is a fair finalist, • organized a new science fair or improved exciting • 100% teachers’ recognition with projects in Mostratec/Febrace
Objectives - Students • 80% participation in ISEF preparation Workshop • 2 veterans panels in ISEF affiliated fairs • Materials examples published in ISEF affiliated fairs Websites
Objectives - Schools • 100% schools’ recognition with projects in ISEF affiliated fairs • 100% state education secretaries receive divulgation materials • 500 DVDs with fairs and projects videos distributed
