Microsoft Campus Agreement • Current Agreement expires 6/30/2013 • Old agreement may be renewed as-is • New agreement costs the University less • Includes full campus desktop option for students • Addition of virtualization • Discussion with WiredOut regarding offset • Most departments will not see major changes to budget requirements over FY13 unless FTE numbers change

  4. Microsoft Campus Agreement • FTE Change, FY13 – FY14 • Fac/Staff: • FY13: 23,379 • FY14: 23,870 • Growth: 491 FTE • Student • FY13: 53,977 • FY14: 53,347* • Growth: -630 FTE * FY14 not yet adjusted for Fac/Staff who are also students

Microsoft Reseller RFP • IUC is preparing to go to RFP for a reseller • Already on the list: • Ability to change reseller with 30 days notice • Ability to choose a different reseller than the IUC if necessary • Price list for Select products provided monthly • Quotes: • 4 hour SLA to respond • 24 hour SLA to return a quote • ? hour SLA to complete processing & provide key

  6. Microsoft Reseller RFP • Issues I know of: • Quote turn-around (est. average 3 business days) • Account team confusion • Media delivery • MSDN/TechNet processing

Microsoft Reseller RFP • What is your biggest single common issue with Insight or another historical reseller? • What are minor issues you have experienced? • What is your expectation on how long it should be from query to “product-in-hand”? • If we stayed with Insight for MS products, what are your feelings?

Secunia 6.0/SCCM Plugin • Upgrade to SCCM 6.0 went well: • minor hiccups, but nobody died. • SCCM Plugin is not included in our current contract • Vince from Engineering has been asking if people will chip in • Quote arrived last night: $2,000 to add it to co-term with out agreement, no strings

Other Renewals/Retirements • PowerTerm Enterprise has been renewed • No new codes or new versions • Parallels has been renewed • A new code was provided, current one still works (no products should hard-fail) • Secures upgrades through April 2014 • Yearly renewal to obtain upgrades required • Gaussian/GaussView was retired from OCIO offering – no more new copies • Version on license was 9 years old, and it had 5 active users on campus; licenses are perpetual

  10. McAfee End of Life • OCIO and OSUWMC have agreed to retire McAfee before September 2013 • Target to have McAfee removed from all systems: June 30, 2013 • Current recommended alternatives include Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (formerly Forefront) on all platforms.
