  3. 100W’s are no more • The Office of the CIO no longer accepts 100W’s as of 4/1/2011 • All software is now paid via eRequest • This is also for all internal vendors • B&F set this end date • OCIO SLS pages should be updated by close of business today to reduce confusion.

  4. Microsoft Forefront/SCCM • Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise 32-bit and 64-bit is available on OSU SLS • The newest version of Forefront is on OSU SLS • SCCM and Forefront IUC Technical Presentation • Looking for space for this • April 14 • SCCM @ 10 AM, Forefront @ 1 PM

ECAL • Departments wishing to upgrade can begin using the products at this time, per the evaluation clause. • Forefront actually has a 120-day eval period • FY12 may be the last option for ECAL uplift for two years (until FY14) • New Amendment is moving into place today • Cost difference (per FTE): • CoreCAL: $38.45 • ECAL: $44.15

ECAL • ECAL includes: • Exchange Server Enterprise CAL • Lync Server Standard/Enterprise CALS • SharePoint Enterprise CAL • System Center Operations Manager Client (SCCM component) • System Center Service Manager Client (SCCM Component) • System Center Data Protection Manager Client (SCCM Component) • Forefront Protection Suite • Forefront Unified Access Gateway • Windows Rights Management Services

Specific ECAL Highlights • Forefront Endpoint protection: • Managed AV that can replace McAfee • System Center Service Manager: • Helpdesk software, ITIL compliant • System Center Operations Manager • Manages desktops and simplifies reporting • SharePoint: • Opens global search functionality, insights, and composites • Lync Server: • Audio/Video for online meetings and conferences, provides IM, allows white-boarding • Exchange Server: • Unified Messaging, e-mail archiving, communication security features

  8. Secunia • Offered $100,000 to cover the entire campus (pricing takes into account currents spend) • Medical Center is committed • Recommendation from OCIO Security to provide this • Most funding has been secured • Still, we are seeking additional funding • $14,000 short

LANDesk/Altiris • Recommendation from OCIO Security to obtain one University price: Currently reviewing LANDesk • Departments will purchase on their own • $4.82/FTE for Management Suite • $1.64/FTE for Security Suite • Support in “incident packs” • Issues • Poor communication • Inclusion of Students in FTE counts • Little strategic vision from LANDesk

  10. LANDesk/Altiris • As a result, we are discussing with Altiris as well. • Seeking the same basic solution • FTE not Machine • Students excluded • Available support
