Purpose To observe osmosis in a cell Water Corn syrup • 1) Place eggs in vinegar. To remove the shell. • 2) Measure weight of egg using a balance • 3) Measure weight of egg using a balance • 4) Place one egg in water and Place another egg in corn syrup • 5) Weight and measure eggs
Hypothesis Hypothesis on water egg Hypothesis on Corn syrup egg • I think its going to get Bigger • I think it will be Heavier • I think it will look The same colour • I think its going to be Smaller • I think it will be Lighter • I think it will look Brown
Materials • Eggs • Beakers • Balance • String • Measuring tape • Vinegar • Corn syrup • Water
Observation • After Vinegar the egg became squishy, bouncy • The vinegar had foam on top • It became fatter after sitting in water • It became dented and deflated after sitting in corn syrup
Conclusion Water Egg Corn Syrup egg • This picture shows that the corn syrup egg would go from high concentration (Egg) to lower concentration • (corn syrup) • The Water egg shows that it’s going from Low concentration (Egg) to High Concentration (Water)
Conclusion • Hypothesis was right, This is my hypothesis • I guessed that the corn syrup would weigh less • The corn syrup egg would look smaller • The corn syrup egg would look more Brown • The water eggs colour would stay white • I guessed that the water egg would weigh more • The water egg would look bigger
