Election Schedule February 23rd – Introduce Officer Positions and Duties March 8th – Officer Nominations – You must be present at the meeting and a paid national member to be nominated March 15th – Nominated Officer Biographies Due March 29th – Officer Elections with Paper Ballots April 12th – Introduction of New Officers
  3. General Officer Duties Each officer must meet with the executive board once a month to discuss section business Each officer must attend general body meetings Each officer must either chair or oversee the committees which fall within their realm of duties Each office must submit reports to the president explaining the aspects of events that fall within their realm Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the president, the executive council, or the governance documents. ** Exceptions may be considered on a case-to-case basis

Vice President Elect/Membership Two year commitment (will be taking over as President 2013-2014) Assume the duties of the President if the President is temporarily unable to serve Oversee membership recruitment and retention activities Chair the mentoring program SWEeties Approximately 10-20 hours of duties per week
  5. Vice President of Fundraising Oversee all fundraising activities Coordinate T-shirt sales including designs, ordering, and sales Communicate with corporate sponsor affiliates Coordinate the event Evening with Industry hosted after the fall and spring Engineering Expo Maintain communication with the Treasurer regarding all funds Approximately 5-20 hours of duties per week
  6. Vice President of Volunteering and Outreach Oversee all campus and community outreach programs Oversee the creation and planning of the event Girl Scout Badge Day Oversee the coordination of outreach events to local high schools Approximately 5-15 hours of duties per week
  7. Treasurer Be responsible for the collection, distribution, and safekeeping of section funds Prepare, maintain, and report as directed on the financial position of the section in relation to the approved budget Present a financial report at each meeting of the section’s executive board and each general body meeting Prepare and file taxes on behalf of the section Submit a financial report to the Society in accordance with established procedures Coordinate refreshments and food for each General Body Meeting Approximately 5-10 hours of duties per week
  8. Vice President of Special Events Coordinate all networking activities and social events for the section Coordinate the section’s SWE week during the first full week of classes in the fall semester Coordinate with the planning and execution of end-of-the-semester parties for the section Approximately 5-15 hours of duties per week
  9. Recording Secretary Maintain the records of the section Creating meeting minutes for each general body meeting of the section Record each executive board meeting Maintain the section’s email account Maintain communication between the executive board and the section Submit meeting times for the COE weekly newsletter Approximately 5-10 hours of duties per week
  10. Communications Secretary Maintain responsibility for the section’s media and publicity Maintain the section’s Facebook account, Website, and Blackboard account Create fliers for each of the section’s general body meetings Coordinate the fliers and informational packets for any of the section’s events Approximately 5-10 hours of duties per week
  11. What to consider before running? Will I have the TIME for this position? What are my PLANS and PRIORITIES for next year? What would I like to CONTRIBUTE to the position and our section? Do I have the BACKGROUND or SKILLS necessary to fulfill this position? Why do I WANT to be an officer? Can I WORK with a team of leaders?
