What is ADDIE MODEL? • The ADDIE MODEL is one of the most commonly used descriptions of Instructional Design and Development.
Cont….. • The ADDIE Instructional Design Model is the best known Instructional Design Model. • It provides a step by step process that helps instructional designers plan and create.
What Does ADDIE stand for? • ADDIE is an acronym for Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate.
Background • ADDIE came about in the Cold War after World War II. • You will often hear ADDIE referred to as Instructional Systems Design (ISD), Instructional Systems Design & Development (ISDD), Systems Approach to Training (SAT) or Instructional Design (ID). • Most of the current instructional design models you will find in the workplace today are variations or spin-offs of the original ADDIE model.
Why is ADDIE Important? • Because the learners can achieve the goals of the desired course. • Because it allows for the evaluation of learner's needs. • Because of the design and development of training materials • Because it uses evaluation of effectiveness of the training program using processes with specific, measurable outcomes.
What is the purpose of ADDIE Model? • The ADDIE Model is intended to guide individuals through the process of creating and evaluating instruction. • The purpose of instructional design is to maximize the value of instruction for the learner.
Conclusion • What I have understood about Instructional Design is that it’s a framework for educators to process and develop a course which will help educators deliver a lesson effectively. It is a generic process traditionally used by Instructional designers and training developers. The five steps in the ADDIE Model represent a guide for building effective training, and also a performance support tool.
