PIP Update Linac Utilities for 2014 Shutdown. Matthew Gardner, 8/20/14. Dual Temp Water System. Replace old water based AC system with conventional rooftop AC system. Drain and abandon old water lines. Remove old a ir handlers and sections of pipes that conflict with new ductwork.

Dual Temp Water System • Replace old water based AC system with conventional rooftop AC system. Drain and abandon old water lines. • Remove old air handlers and sections of pipes that conflict with new ductwork. • Pipe insulation contains asbestos, abatement will take place August 29th. • Relocate a VESDA conduit. • Bid package was delayed by procurement. Sent out on August 18th. Bid due date is August 29th. • Ductwork installation should begin in the 2nd or 3rd week of September. Expected to take ~4 weeks. • The Rooftop units have a lead time of 6-8 weeks. • This may not arrive before the shutdown ends.
CUB Chiller#3 Spare Pump • Concrete pad waiting on chiller overhaul. • Expected to happen next week. 1-2 days. • Electrical Work will begin next week. • Expected to take ~2 weeks. • Pipe Fitting • All of the prep work that could be done before cutting into existing system is complete. • Was waiting on chiller overhaul before continuing. • Rising costs prompted switch from T&M to fixed price. • Package has been sent out for review and will go out to bid this week or next. • Remaining work is expected to take 3 weeks.
L1 Substation Replacement • Transformer was moved to Linac Lower Gallery on July 19th. • Transfer temporary power to L2 on September 6th. • 2 weeks to remove old substation and install new one. • EE Support, Electricians, and Riggers • Switch power to new substation on September 20th.
