Information – Deadlines - Events • Administrative Update • College’s Legal Position: Search in progress • Dean’s Position: Projected hire date is Fall Semester • President Capilouto's Visit with Agents • 3 Regional Locations - Hardin Co. is a projected site • Approximately 20 Agents to be invited per site • Performance Appraisal Form • Dr. Henning - Statewide LYNC Session - 11 am ET • Overview and rubric have been sent to Agents

Annual Extension Conference • Projected Date: Spring of 2014; Location: Lexington • Barnhart Fund for Excellence • Budget Update • Fiscal Matters Training – Today, following Staff • No “new surprises” – same as announced last year • Counties will begin paying all benefits for hourly staff • Anticipate a 5% salary pool (must be approved by Provost) • Effective July 1 - hiring must occur before mid Feb • Base agent costs will be increased by 5%

Career Ladder Update • Applications submitted to the D5 Office were forwarded to Karen Ramage’s Office Feb. 1, 2013 • Level 4 will be reviewed by Peer Committee • Civil Rights Training • Committee has met by Lync to preview the overview • March 2013: Train the trainer for the committee • Fall 2013: Training for Agents at District 5 Staff Meeting • College Name - College of Ag Food & Environment • Effective July 1, 2013

County Program Reviews • Demographics for Programming Update • State Contact: Julie Zimmerman • Population projections for the next 40 years • New Census data website is up but difficult to navigate • Disaster Preparedness Curriculum • State Contacts: Andrea Higdon and Ricky Yeargan • Roles of Extension Agents and Target Dates • Looking at proposals of development of personalized training

District Board Timeline • Emergency Closings • Closings must be reported to the D5 Office in a timely manner • Guide for closings – D5 Website • Hiring Process Update • In-Service Training Evaluations • Qualtrics Survey – Question on Content of Agent Trainings • Implemented to help presenters with their skills & give specialists documentation on presentation

  8. Insurance – Health and Liability • Incident Report must be filed by Agents and DD’s notified • Suggested: Individual Insurance Companies or KACO for Insurance to cover events and clientele • Internal Audit – UK • Administrative Report is being drafted for reply • Areas of Response • Review of Money Handling Procedures • Interns • Interviews being conducted - selections first of March (175 apps) • Salary - $5100.00; 9% SS/Insurance; travel – 12 weeks

IT Update • Security: Encryption, Thumb Drives, Computers, Personal Info. • Drop Box Caution: the only security is your password. • Passcodes will allow encryption on laptops, iPhones, iPads, etc. • Carbonite – Offsite storage; mobile access; $229 @ year • KDA – Jr. Chef Program • New nutrition, cooking program being offered through KDA • Farm to School Program • KDA Contacts: • Tina Garland • Bill Wickliffe (will visit 4-H YD Agents today)

KSU Update • Welcome – Laura Rogers • College enrollment: 75 students in undergrad and grad • Two graduate studies (environmental studies and aquaculture) • Proposed purchase: 200 acres to expand Ext. Research Farm • New Nutritional Mobile Unit – located in the Louisville area • Proposed Development: FCS Division • KY 4-H Volunteer Forum 2014 • Jan 30 and Feb. 1, 2014 – Lexington will be the location • Goal – Every county represented (last year 44 counties vacant) • Great educational and recognition opportunity

LandscapeArchitecture • New: Extension Appointment – Jayoung Koo • Start date was September, 2012 • ½ Teaching/½ Extension (through CEDIK) • Facilitation of: public gardens & streetscapes • County-wide Projects only (no individual projects) • Focus – Creating Great Community Places • Particular topics of interest: • Trails – commuter, recreation, safe routes to school, etc. • Public place and public life • Land use planning • Do any of your POW’s have these projects as a focus?

Lincoln Trail Ag/HES Alumni • Mid-Year Visits • Plan of Work • Priority Indicators • Reporting Efforts Update – myUK • Current “live pilots” - PSD and Fayette County • All employees will enter data through myUK, not KERS • Supervisors must approve leave/timesheet • Secretary Training – FCS Contact

  13. SNAP-Ed Reporting • State Extension Council & St. Program Adv. Groups • Location: Embassy Suites, Lexington • Program Adv. Groups: March 5 (Reports given on 6th) • SEC: March 5 (orientation - 3:30) and 6 • D5 delegates: Bring item to represent county (door prize) • Agents attending must pay separately • Afternoon of the 6th - 2 hours for developing Fall District Forums • Today select Agents for D5 Committee (Christy Martin, Past Chair) • Committee members may join the group discussion • Summer meeting: Date and Location TBS
