Agenda • Self-Service Changes • MacOS X Purchases • Software Renewals • Attachmate and Novell • OARnet VMWare processes
OCIO Self-Service for Site Licensing • Presented by Marty (IT Service Desk) and Moustafa (OCIO Tool Team)
MacOS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) • MacOS 10.8 arrived July 25th • Ordered through eStores • Discounts deeper than last version ($20/copy, 20+ copies = ½ off) • Previous pricing was $30/copy, 20+ half off) • When you order through eStores, there are two different locations for ordering the software: one for bulk, one for single copies
Ordering MacOS 10.8 • After selecting the products you want (enter quantities to update your cart), review the summary of your products. • Select “Send Proposal” (small button at the bottom of the page) to continue • Choosing “update” will just update your cart
Upcoming Renewals • Nvivo • Codes received, available via IT Service Desk • Minitab • Renewed, pending codes • Codes updated on a server, no action needed on users’ part • Autodesk/3Dsm • Renewal of $91 is due each August for continued use. Pricing remains the same • MATLAB • Pending final CIP Codes from HR; expected cost increase for sharing departments due to increased number of students/staff/faculty • SAS • Renewal quote received • Expect a small price increase ($2-3/copy on workstations; servers remain the same) • Student use available with self-service roll-out
Attachmate and Novell • Attachmate – Is it in use in your area? • Terminal emulation software • Brand Names: Reflection, Luminet, FileXpress, INFOConnect • Do not alter installations if you have any; simply report them to OCIO Site Licensed Software • Attachmate owns Novell • $1.25 million spend with Novell university-wide • Please review any licenses you may have and begin any necessary true-up processes
OARnet VMWare Ordering • OARnetVMWare ordering thoughts • OCIO Site Licensing met with OARnet regarding the ordering process. • Updates are coming to the process to make it easier • Renewal issues appear to be caused by a bug on the VMWare side; OARnet is seeking resolution • A catalog option will be added, hosted on the VMWare site • Ordering process uses Service Now, and they have lost some tool team members • Direct support for ordering can be obtained through Dana Rodgers @ (614) 292-7025
