MATLAB Update • Previous Distribution: • Go to the IT Service Desk, fill out agreement, get codes e-mailed, media only for fac/staff • New Distribution • Everything is online. • The MathWorks hosts the download • Request from The MathWorks to begin discussion of a 3-year contract.
SPSS Pricing • SPSS was supported by several colleges that made continuation of the license possible:
SPSS Pricing • OCIO kicked in about $48,000 (27%) • 18 month license • Colleges/Units who did not help support the purchase pay $32 (no maintenance) for each copy installed • Additional licensed Modules: SPSS Premium • Bootstrapping, Direct Marketing, Neural Networks, Data Preparation, Decision Trees, Complex Samples
Software Renewals/Upgrades • MATLAB • Renewal accomplished • 2010b in testing, released via media after duplication; codes currently available • New Toolbox: Robust Control Toolbox • Spline Toolbox fit into Curve Fitting Toolbox • Robust Control chosen as the largest value “extra” in use at the University • Total value of toolbox: $12,000+
Software Renewals/Upgrades • JMP • Invoice paid, pending codes • JMP 9 Win/Mac just released, will run through March (license warns 1/15/11, fails 3/30/11) • New licensing model allows for x64 version (JMP Pro) and Simulation Studio for JMP
Forefront News • New version of Forefront due to go up to the SLSC site soon. • Working with Microsoft to obtain beta for next version of SCCM, as well as training
Secunia • Offered $100,000 to cover the entire campus (pricing takes into account currents spend) • Medical Center is committed • Recommendation from OCIO Security to provide this • Seeking additional funding
