Agenda • LANDesk Agreement Information • Secunia CSI and custom PSI information and testing • Known changes to software pricing in FY12 • 100% ECAL uplift and what this means for OSU • Safeboot renewals and future picture • Timeline for upcoming product renewals in the first half of FY12 • Anti-Malware options ahead • Minor SLS changes • The new OCIO Site Licensing website: a preview
LANDesk • LANDesk agreement is signed • Departments will purchase on their own; not required to switch if using a different product • $4.82/FTE for Management Suite (+ $.49/FTE for maintenance/“MYUP”) • $1.64/FTE for Security Suite • Support in “incident packs” (5 for $1,180.73; 10 for $2,265.07; 25 for $5,301.21) • Based on FTE count: All departmental FTE’s must be covered • Similar to Microsoft count, but smaller • Students (GRA/GTA) removed from FTE counts • Purchased through GovConnection • Gary McMasters and Pete Kelley can provide quotes • Available to faculty/staff, for use on all managed machines (including consultants’ personally-owned machines!) • Arts and Sciences Savings Report: • Estimated costs pre-agreement: $448,000 over 3 years • Estimated costs post-agreement: $40,068 over 3 years (8.9%)
Secunia • Two products: • Corporate Software Inspector (CSI) • Agent (or agent-less) scanning and patch management • Suitable for “all OSU locations, and for machines managed by the University” • Personal Software Inspector (PSI) • Custom-built PSI available for Fac/Staff/Student personal machines • Existing PSI installations can be linked in easily • Link ID: “buckeyes” • Working on roll out • Currently examining account provisioning • OCIO Service Catalog and Design is working on this • Test version up and running for OCIO • Target date: August 30, 2011 • No cost to departments for use • Expires in late 2015
SLS Pricing Changes (known) • SAS Windows Workstation: • Currently: $27/year • Increasing to: $33-$35/year • Cause: Decreased demand (25%) • SPSS: • Remains at $32/year • Cost shares remain • Parallels: • Cost being re-evaluated; likely to remain the same for new copies, though maintenance may decrease due to better pricing. • Nvivo: • Currently: $42 • Increasing to: $43 • Cause: Decreased demand (4%)
100% ECAL • Business and Finance (the group that pays for and bills for the MS Campus Agreement) decided to uplift 100% • All units are now covered for ECAL • OSU now manages two agreements instead of three (CA and Select: before there were 2 CA’s) • Cost difference (per FTE): • CoreCAL: $38.45 • ECAL: $44.16
Safeboot Renewals • Renewal of all Safeboot licenses complete • Cost recovery prepared to begin • To obtain the new Safeboot Grant #, purchase the renewal • Pricing to be announced today or tomorrow • Current Grant # expires on 7/15 • If you run Safeboot, take stock of your installations today
Upcoming Software RenewalsFirst half, FY12 • Nvivo • Expiration July 10 • PO cut, pending codes. • MATLAB • Expiration August 31 • Pricing locked and communicated to cost share holders. • Minitab • Expiration: August 31 • Pricing locked. McAfee, Forefront, and the Magic Quadrant • The Quadrant is for endpoint protection suites only • OSU is only using AV and AS • Forefront does not have a complete suite • McAfee is shown as leading because of the size of their suite • According to Gartner, FF and McAfee are “on par” in terms of scanning and detection.
Minor SLS Changes • CoreFTP is being removed from OSU SLS • Replaced by FileZilla on Windows side • CoreFTP does not support SFTP, cannot be used for OSU Web Hosting • Redirect links for Eudora and SSH SecureShell removed
