Recent Renewals - Complete • NVivo • Codes available, sent to customers • Pricing remains the same for renewal • New Mac version expected “late 2013” • Minitab • 8/1 Renewal should be invisible to customers • SPSS • Codes expire (warnings begin) on 7/31 • Codes hard fail on 8/30 • Codes currently available via Self Service • V. 21 available on Self Service • Virtualization allowed
SPSS • Three different codes: • Standard, Premium, Amos • Amos is not available for home use • Common issues with renewals: • MedCenter Firewall can prevent renewal • Solution: Choose Authorize by e-mail after failure • Previous version issues with upgrades • Completely uninstall old versions • Mac installs in particular need the most recent Java version
Deeper SLS Training for ITSD • We have started what we hope will be regular IT Service Desk training sessions • Any time a new code comes out, we will schedule training before expiration • Training includes more than just support and problems • Eligibility and cost • Information on capabilities and other common names of the package • Info about special cases for particular departments • A chance to ask questions about issues that the ITSD has experienced
Upcoming Renewals, Part I • MATLAB • Renewal in progress. Target date for codes: 8/15 (expiration 8/31, hard fail 9/30) • Adding at least two toolboxes. Under consideration: • MATLAB Coder • SimPower Systems • Communication System Toolbox • RF Toolbox
Upcoming Renewals, Part II • SAS • No cost increase for FY14 • Seeking to have codes in hand Sept. 1 (expires 9/30, hard fails 12/31) • 9.4 received from SAS • New SAS versions require extensive testing; expect testing to take a month from receipt of upgrade (current version is 15.8 GB in size) • JMP • Renewal of same products expected • Codes expected Oct. 15 (expires 11/30, hard fails 3/1/14
Upcoming Renewals, Part III • Safeboot • Preparing renewal • Who still has this software? • MedCenter, Optometry are using it • ASC has reported no further use • Anyone else?

MDSN/TechNet Licenses • If you have MSDN or TechNet, your license expired on June 30 • Renew through Insight (see prev. slide for contact) • Then contact me (dangler.8@osu.edu and copy software@osu.edu) once your PO is cut and you get a notice that they’ve processed it • You need to be manually added back in

McAfee • Second message prepared indicating end of agreement to end-users, may hit additional users • Recommended alternatives: • MS SCEP for any University machines • Security Essentials, Sophos Home, and ClamAV for home machines • Direct customers to contact the IT Service Desk for assistance with replacement products • If you want to know who is accessing the OCIO repository, request through software@osu.edu
