Highlights (Q1/2007) IC system nearing operation, plumbing mostly complete, pumps installed, left pump running Tree house flow restriction Chiller and IC system operate off of siphon principle, not good for our dynamic system Chillers working, recent failure of CH0401 47 deg chill water loop needs modified Instrument Lab cooling includes a cryo-compressor on level 1 in the design LUCIFER and LINC-N cryo-compressor cooling is stubbed out on right side LUCIFER cryo-compressor cooling needs stubbed out on left side

Open Issues Technical IC system not designed for fluctuating loads IC system configuration changes Heat exchanger on tree houses restrict flow to 7 gpm Chill water lines are not to print Chill water system design for variable viscosity needs review 47 deg chill water loop not adequate expansion 47 deg chill water loop doesn’t work completely 47 deg chill water loop control valves not connected at air compressors Schedule Verify operation, coil sizes, redo prints, put in expansion tanks, proper bypass, connect valves Financial $$ Resource Slowly moving ahead on definition and solution of issues, not found consultant to address overall system design issues

  4. Progress (Q1/2007) IC installed air separators IC installed expansion tanks IC installed new pumps, left side running Chillers removed some insulation to see what was really there, example: 4” line goes to 1.25” coupling into 2” heat exchanger Instrument room just starting, 10 April 2007

Planning (Q2/2007) IC system will be running continuously keeping the tree houses cool Support engineering with further installation of trap doors in other 3 tree houses Find a solution to the flow restriction in the tree houses Determine what is happening with the chill water pipe Redesign 47 deg water system

  6. Planning (Q2/2007) Install sensors Write software Debug
