CALO Piquets • We have a pool of ~20 piquets for 2009-2010 operation • Piquet periods are ~9 days: • From Monday afternoon to the Wednesday of the following week • Fully responsible from Wednesday morning after the 9:00 am running and operation meeting. • There is ~2 days overlap. • Piquet planning for 2009: Pascal Perret - LPC Clermont
CALO Piquet Activities w45-46 • Recovering from power cut on Nov 3 after 18kV problems: • quite smooth … • HV problem with 1 LV line on Nov 2: • Maintenance on Nov 4 • Problem with SPD regulator board 7B0U on Nov 10 after a power cut (when trying to fix a problem in turbine project): • Detector access to check CB but problem fixed “magically” • Problem with PSDCST1 on Nov 13 • Regular switch on/off HV or go to cosmics activities • Time to time PVSS problems: • Links broken (Experts having some projects, …) • No proper transmission of the commands … • Experts activities: LED, pin diodes, … Pascal Perret - LPC Clermont
DSS alarms, poweringprocedures • Instructions have been updated after a special meeting (Nov 12) • Instructions can be found on the twiki: • https://lbtwiki.cern.ch/pub/CALO/CaloPiquetDSS/DSS.pdf • The role of the SD piquet upon a DSS alarm is to • Understand the effect of the alarm, and restore normal operating conditions, with the help of SD experts and the Run Chief. • Inform the Run Chief about detector conditions and authorize to acknowledge the actions. • Rearming a TDM should be performed by the SLIMOS after approval by the Run Chief • Automatic turn ON of DCS and DAI has been disabled from the LHCb control • The SLIMOS should be informed before any intervention • To do by sharing temporarily the control or by acting from the main console. Pascal Perret - LPC Clermont
News • Detector is now operated 24h 7/7 since Monday • Experts should not take any projects! In case of need: • Contact the piquet • The piquet should ask for authorization the shift leader or run chief • Request in the 9:00 am meeting • Release the projects after use(!) and inform the piquet→shift leader. • Cavern should be closed today • Restricted access mode temporarily should be possible if needed in case of problems … • Specific procedure: • Access request form to fill 24h in advance • Agreements needed: CALO management, run Chief, LHC contact, … • Discussion in the 9:00 am meeting • Piquet documentations, How To, … needed from the Experts! • Planning for 2010: send me your availabilities and constraints. Entry in the logbook! Pascal Perret - LPC Clermont
LHC News From Andreas presentation this morning (slides attached): • Global machine check-out starting on Wednesday evening • Days 1-3: • Over the weekend we would hope to injection, circulate and capture both beams working with one beam and then the other. • Splash events (~30/experiment) on Saturday (or Friday?) night • Do we want to (can) be on? (5 MIP/cm2) • Days 4-13: get the beams into collisions at 450 GeV • LHC experts working during the day • More stable conditions during the nights • Stocking fillers with possibility of stable beam for at least 4 hours • 450 GeV collisions (2x2 1010) - First fill during day time • Days 14 – 18: Ramp up to 1.2 TeV & 450 GeVcollisions • Collisions during nights: needs of shifts?
